That version was first sung by "IZ" (Israel Kamakawiwoʻole), a Hawaiian musician my husband and I absolutely LOVE. He died at the age of 38 and is considered an icon and hero in his native Hawaii. Before his performance on Idol, Jason Castro introduced the song as a "Brudduh Iz" number. If you have never heard Iz sing it before, you would think Castro had the lyrics all screwed up but that's just the way Iz sings it. I loved it - I thought Castro did a great job!

This is not exactly how I would sing the song, but he does have a nice voice.
