Since I got into mineral makeup, I’ve discovered it pays to shop around for certain items that you like, to see if other companies carry a similar or the same product at a lower price.
I discovered mineral makeup in April, and found my two favorite brands in May. One of the sites, Aromaleigh, carries more traditional style makeup in addition to mineral makeup. I noticed that they carried a great ‘indelible gel eyeliner‘ product that looked very similar to MAC Cosmetic’s Fluidline. Of course I bought some to try! I loved it, and then I went back to Aromaleigh’s website to learn a bit more about the product.
I noticed that Aromaleigh carried this product by customer request and that it was made by a third party company that supplies it to any company that wants to carry it, in the same colors and same formula.
So I did some digging online, and saw that it is indeed carried on many different sites, for wildly different prices! The prices range from $7.70 to $25.00
Companies I found that carry the Indelible Gel Eyeliners (this is by no means a comprehensive list):
Spa Private Label – $7.70
Mad Minerals – $8.99
JW Cosmetics – $8.99
Headcovers unlimited – $9.99
Catwalk Cosmetics – $12.50
Aromaleigh – $14.75 (these go on sale rather often for $11.06)
Studio Direct – $14.99
Urban Apothecary – $15.00
MAC Cosmetics – $15.00 (added as a price guideline)
Loose Lips NY – $20.00
Indelible Gel – $25.00
I’ve personally only ordered from Aromaleigh, so I can attest to their good customer service. I’ve had friends who ordered from Mad Minerals, Urban Apothecary and Loose Lips, who say that they have good customer service as well.
Since this product is every bit as good as MAC’s Fluidline, if not better, it definitely pays to look at the colors offered at other companies if this is a product you like. For the same price as one MAC fluidline, if you ordered from one of the more inexpensive places, you could purchase two of the indelible gel eyeliners.
Here’s a comparision of the MAC colors and descriptions vs. the Indelibles.
MAC:
Blitz & Glitz – intense black flashed with gold pearl
Blacktrack – solid flat black
Dipdown – deep dark flat brown
Rich Ground – reddened coco with frost
Shade – deep dark green
Silverstroke – richly metallic platinum
Brassy – metallic brass
Macroviolet – deep smoked violet with red pearl
Waveline – navy blue with low level gold pearl
Indelible Gels:
Black Out – basic black
Chocolate Mousse – medium/deep brown
Endangered – rich evergreen
Scuba Dive – deep navy blue
Magnetism – pearlized charcoal with golden glints
Tanzanite – pearlized deep mauve/russet
Penny – a shimmering copper penny
Ivy League – mid-tone shimmering khaki/ivy green
Marcasite – soft shimmering mid-tone gray
Tidal Wave – soft shimmering mid-deep ocean blue
Venemous – gorgeous vivid purple
Black Cherry – shimmering deep blackened burgundy
Peacock – shimmering incredible teal
The same third party company also makes indelible cream eye shadows that are comparable to MAC’s paint pots.
Indelible Creams:
Apricot Frost: frosted soft peach, similar to MAC Rubenesque.
Bronze Frost: frosted bronze, similar to MAC Indianwood
Carbon: rich deep frosted grey black, similar to Blackground
Gold Frost: pale golden white frost with iridescent gold sparkle
Bare Necessity: Soft buff nude tones, no shimmer, similar to MAC Painterly
Nude Frost: pale champagne pearl frost, similar to MAC Bare Study
Rose Frost: cool toned rose pearl frost
Green Tea: pale cool green pearl frost
Pink Pearl: soft pink pearl frost
Forest: deep green pearl frost with bluish undertone
Plumkin: gorgeous pearlized plum
Tip Taupe: mid-toned, wear-all taupe, no shimmer
MAC Paint Pots:
Soft Ocre: yellow beige cream
Quite Natural: dirty chocolate brown cream
Painterly: nude beige
Moss Scape: green with gold pearl
Delft: deep teal with gold pearl
Fresco Rose: mid-tone pink with matching pearl
Artifact: dark burgundy with red pearl
Constructivist: metallic dark brown with subtle red pearl
Indianwood: metallic antique bronze
Rubenesque: mid-tone frosted golden peach with gold and pink pearl
Groundwork: mid-tone neutral taupe
Bare Study: champagne with gold and white pearl
Blackground: frosted smoky black grey with multi-colored pearl
Greenstroke: frosted mint green with gold pearl
And of course, they make eyeliner pencils as well. Definitely hunt around if you want a bargain, or, if you like a particular site the best, buy from that site and support them! I personally will only buy these products from Aromaleigh, as I find all of their products to be wonderful and their customer service to be superb.
These indelibles are definitely as good as MAC’s version, and in some cases better, so don’t be afraid to try it just because it’s coming from a smaller company.

Great article.
I wouldn’t have thought to look around at the different companies!
WOW, great find! I’ve always been aware of private label companies but never really dug deeper. I’m not a huge Fluid Line fan but I know lots of people who are so I’m definitely going to pass this on and maybe even get some gifts
.
Great article. Well written!
I’m very glad that you find it useful
Yay!
Doing all the work to find it has always been my downfall. It’s so much easier to just go to the mall and pick it up from MAC than hunt it down. You’ve done me a huge favor with your impeccable research!!
OMG, I can totally see Mo pulling those eyes!! Fun!
Isn’t she fantastic!? Thank you so much DD and hope we can read from you again soon.
Aromaleigh is a wonderful mineral makeup site, big thumbs up from me as well.
I would love to again, Jen
Anytime!
Funny you should mention that Tracy, I did whip up my own variation on that look today!
I am a HUGE fan of that eyeliner, and the And the Sonic Eyes sampler at Aromaleigh is calling my name!!
Ooh!! Fantastic! I’m always looking for an eyeshadow with colors that really pop and this looks perfect. I may have to make a purchase. Thanks for the review.
Meow and Aromaleigh were the two companies I found that showed me that Mineral Makeup could be just as awesome as MAC. Before that, I was a die hard MAC girl. However, both companies make things that can really pop, as do several other mmu companies out there. I think for the longest time I had the idea that mmu was just bland, and I am so glad I was wrong about this!
Hey! Excellent comparison/contrast, thanks so much! I’ve been wanting to try these and have also been seeing them all over and wondered whether there was a difference.
I dunno whether you’ve seen these or not, but Coastal Scents just got gel liners in, and they’re $6.95 and look pretty nice.

There’s a video on the homepage talking about the new products, and they show the gel liners, so it’s a great way to get a better idea of the colors.

have you by chance came across any private label companies that compare to macs lipsticks or foundation makeup? i loved your article!!
Does anyone know if a private label manufactures something similar to Lancome’s Oscillation mascara or the Cils Booster XL mascara base? I really love these products, but I can’t bring myself to paying such a high price again. Thanks!
Funny that I come across this. I am interested in starting my own line and I think I might have stumbled across a company that makes MAC’s blushes or some of them. The colors and names of some are similar. Funny how we overpay for a name when the product is the same. Guess cuz we trust a company.
