No matter what the price, a good eye treatment formula should have no strong fragrance or color, absorb quickly into your skin without leaving a greasy feeling and contain beneficial ingredients that will soothe, protect and repair your skin.
This year two of my favorite eye products have been: Caudalie’s VINEXPERT Anti-Ageing Serum Eyes and Lips, and DERMAdoctor’s Wrinkle Revenge Rescue & Protect Eye Balm (which is the eye formula I am currently using). These two formulas are not cheap and priced in the $60-$80 range, and I liked them because of how they felt, absorbed into my skin, and that their ingredients accomplished what they claimed.
Active Ingredients in Caudalie’s Vinex
pert Anti-Ageing Serum Eyes and Lips ($70):
grape-seed polyphenols (OPC) - antioxidants that protect skin
ceramides 3 - are lipids that act as a barrier to hold in moisture and protect the skin
tetrapeptides-
horse chestnut - known to increase strength of veins and capillaries (may lighten dark circles)
liquorice/licorice- an antioxidant known to reduce inflammation and soothe irritation.
plant glycerine - moisturizer
calendula - known to soothe and protect the skin
Active ingredients in DERMAdoctor’s Wrinkle Revenge Rescue & Protect Eye Balm ($68):
And I realize that many of us do not want to spend or cannot afford a $50+ eye cream. You might also prefer the convenience of being able to pick up a product from the drug store, I believe there are many good options available to you, but would highly recommend to examine the product ingredient list before purchasing and keep your receipt for a easy return if not satisfied with its performance.
And don’t despair, next week I will take a closer look at some more affordable drug store brand eye treatments and help you determine which ones are worth your time and money.

I use this every night. I notice a big difference in using eye cream at night vs. not and this one makes me feel light and tight.
I have been looking for a good eye cream although like you said, it’s just so hard for me to justify that much money… but then again, I think about it and it’s not *too* hard to justify since I don’t want to end up with big wrinkly eyes either.
Yep, I’m totally with Jami on this. I’m also still on the search for a good “day time” eye cream with SPF in it (though without much luck — I still just use my regular sunscreen around my eyes).
And that says a lot Makeup Moxie!
Sometimes lotions or creams with SPF can irritate or bother my eyes, and cause them to sting or tear-up. If you haven’t tried the Caudalie line, you must!!!
