Remember this post, “Supplements for the Skin, Hair, and Nails: Price Hard to Swallow?”
If you are a skincare junkie like me, I bet you have been wondering about all the supplements and drinks that purport to benefit your skin, hair, and nails. And these supplements don’t come cheap! I am not saying that these do or do not work; I am just saying a little investigation is in order before you “bottoms-up†on some of these products.
A recent post from J. Tania at Beauty Tip Today mentions a new celebrity-touted drink called “Beauty Scoop“ that is supposed to do wonders for your skin and hair. I mean, if Ricki Lake loves it and she has the most fabulous skin and hair it must be good. Well $95 for a 21 day supply, it better be! Â
Recently I had the opportunity to sample the “Beauty Scoop – the edible beauty accessory” product for 21 days.  And what were my conclusions?
Eh.
The taste wasn’t bad, it reminded me a lot of a vanilla flavored whey powder protein drink that I made a lot while I was dieting. The Beauty Scoop product adds both whey and soy protein to their powder. Their magical ingredients? Safflower oil, Canola oil, and vanilla. Um, am I missing something here? Does the beauty “accessory label” warrant the $95 price tag?!Â
I honestly didn’t notice any significant differences with my skin, hair or nails while drinking the Beauty Scoop for 21 continual days. I am confident that there are health benefits to consuming Omega-3 fatty acids from safflower and canola oil, but if you look at the ingredients listed in this product, it is a REALLY overpriced whey and soy-based protein powder IMHO.
You can easily supplement your diet with a daily multi-vitamin, an Omega-3 supplement, and consume soy milk, cow’s milk, or a drink made with whey or soy powder to get the same benefits as the Beauty Scoop product, and for a fraction of the cost.

I really appreciate your review. It is very helpful.
Well, if you have the money and you want one easy thing instead of gulping down a handful of supplements 2-3 times a day, I can see how this would work well for you. I, however, am mad broke, so I don’t mind the gulping. Especially if it’ll give me the same results!
$95?!? oi vey. I think I’ll stick to downing my loads of supplements. I just started Flax Seed supplements. It seems to be helping my skin clear. Thanks for the review and the advice, MBB!
You rock!
Yikes…sorry you had to be the ginnie pig on this costly product. Myself like Mo…am sadly lacking in the financial area! Especially now that I am not working due to disability. sounds like you can almost whip it up yourself, but, if you already have these in your diet, I would not go to the trouble to make up a concoction if it does not show any noticiable affects.
Of course, If you are looking good already, it might not show as any improvement! so, maybe I will give it a go, since my skin is not as great as yours!
Some people just need to spend the money, and they get that placebo affect. Sounds like your advice to supplement the ingrediants into your diet is the best and least expensive way to go. I will have fun being a chemist and having an expermint. Maybe I will look good for when the kids come for the holidays!
Try Horsetail Vitamins (herb). It’s silical in a capsul and helps your hair, nails, skin and bones. Cheap and you only have to pop a couple a day and they really do work.
I just heard about BEAUTY SCOOP on FOX NEWS the other day and was going to order a month supply until I came across your sight.. AM I GLAD..Thanks so much for the info I really appreciate it.
That is great news! It’s not that this stuff is bad; just overpriced for what it is. Thanks Karen!
As mentioned by the ladies, I too, was ALL about buying this stuff until I saw the price and read the tips above. I’m getting on in my age and my nails aren’t look’n soo good. Thanks again!!!
I tried Beautyscoop and it worked better than anything I ever tried before! I love the taste too! They say that it works because of the amount, time you drink it (once a day instead of throughout the day) and the fact that it is a powder (not a pill or bar) that works. It is true. When I took all the other stuff you guys mentioned, throughout the day, it simply did not work. Believe me, those doctors are on to something. You get what you pay for and this stuff is worth it!!
I know it is pricy but I have to say my nails are amazing now. I have always had issues with my nails growing up (peeling and cracking). I had to keep clear polish on them at all time to strenghten them. Seriously my dermatologist said that was all there was to do. Now my nails are so strong and I can actually wear colored polish without it craking five min after the application! So all in all this is an amazing investment. Plus I’m not organized enough to eat and drink all those suppliments on my own!
Where can I buy the Beauty Scoop? I am from Texas and
let know where can order it .
Thank-You

Ok – so I have been hearing about BeautyScoop for the past few months, my girlfriend has been raving about it and I and finally decided to give it a try. Being somewhat of a health/beauty junkie I’ve been experimenting with products for the past few decades and I’m always looking for ways to look and feel better.
For me BeautyScoop has been a great addition to my beauty routine! I have been using it for 5 weeks now and I definately noticed the change in my nails and skin. I guess because it just moisturizes in a way that no lotion/cream can deliver. I have even FELT better, more energized and vibrant! (I don’t know whether its because of whats in BeautyScoop or just because I am looking better!) So in my experience YES try BeautyScoop, it is definately worth it!
Please send me the ingredients in beauty scoop.
Cann’t say if it works, but the two comments here look like the were written by some PR from Beauty Scoop. The same comments appear on another blog entry about the drink mix (http://cosmetic-makeovers.com/2009/01/04/beautyscoop-reviews). Low.
