Like a lot of women out there, I’ve often toyed with the idea of creating my own cosmetics line. There are a couple problems with this though. First, I have no money. Second, I’d have no idea where to start. And third, there are already a lot of good products out there so creating something exceptional would be hard. I like to take the easy way out and just buy what I like rather than creating it. I admit it, I’m kinda lazy. So when somebody new comes along and they’ve created something good, I’m all the more amazed and impressed. Finding a section of the market can be hard, but here at MBB we love watching our favorite little companies blossom and grow. Our favorite finds like tarte, Lush, and Alison Raffaele have gotten HUGE and companies like Purely Cosmetics, Sally B’s, and Aromaleigh are on their way to the top. It’s always fun to feel like you’re one of the first to discover something fun and fantastic….
Well discover this my friends…Vis-a-Vis Cosmetics.
So what makes them different from everyone else, you ask? There are a few things. First, instead of trying to do a little of everything they’ve really taken the time and focused on specific products. Lipglaze, lipstick, blush, and face powder are their four product selections. Simple, basic, and definitely not confusing. But don’t let the seeming lack of selection fool you, because the other thing they’ve done really well is create versatile, multi-use products.
My absolute favorites from this line have got to be the lipglaze and the luminous blush. You simply must check out the lipglaze in Ciao Bella, a gorgeous peachy pink with slight golden shift. This is a great color for almost all skintones and perfect for bringing a little pop to a nude summer lip. If you liked Urban Decay’s X lipstick all those years ago then you will love Ciao Bella because the smooth texture and pearly shine (yes, with real pearls!) are a perfect match for this color. Wear it with a sheer eye color for beach wear or with a great gold shadow for something knockout at night, this is really a color that you can just toss in your bag and use from sun up to bedtime. I can’t wait to try Brown Suga, Seductive, Minx, aw heck, all of them!
The Luminous Blush is their real wonder product. I cannot stress enough how smooth and silky this pressed powder is, I just want to run my fingers across it all day. The color glides on, blends into your skin effortlessly and is wonderfully buildable. I took their hint and tried it everywhere, as a highlighter, cheek color, and even as a light shimmery eye color. This will be your go to product this summer as it fills all these uses handily and takes up hardly any space. An added mirror would make it even better for throwing in your clutch for the evening, but lack of one isn’t going to keep me from taking it along , that’s for sure! I used Diva Dust and it worked well on my wintery white, sun deprived skin, but will work even better as my skin warms and colors a bit once the sun actually arrives. If that ever happens.
I haven’t gotten to try the Extreme Balance Face Powder yet, but I am dying to since their Light Balance looks like it will be a perfect match for me. The Lip Cuddle Lipstick in Pink Kiss is great for that perfect spring pink, since it can be sheer in shimmery or layered on for more color if you prefer. It’s not perfectly smooth because of the micro glitter, but it isn’t rough or irritating. And the Velvet Touch matte colors aren’t drying at all. I’ve had a lot of trouble with matte colors in the past and this was a nice gentle formula with decent staying power.
I am so happy I got a chance to try this great new line. I’m excited to see my summer prep and touchup time cut drastically with these great products and over the moon at finding Ciao Bella lipglaze. And, just as an aside, their models and pictures are gorgeous. I hope you get the chance to try them soon!

I loved the texture of their lipstick that I got to try
The color wasn’t a favorite for me, but you can definitely tell that they’ve got great quality products.
Love your review, I’ll be checking their site out again soon.
good info. I hadnt heard of them before. I’ll have to look into this!
i’ll love to win one of your contests!
oooo, Ciao Bella looks amazing!! It looks slightly similar to Three Custom Color’s new Whisper gloss. I have that one and it’s peachy shimmery and perfect for summer. This looks a little deeper though. Hmmm… I think I need both! (I’m sure the Bionic Hubby won’t agree though!) tee hee!
I tried the so called “lip glaze”, it is worse quality than Drug-Store cheap stuff. The texture is sticky and it went on think and gunky and it smeared. The packaging is flimsy and cheap. I gave it to my daughter to play with, even she didn’t even like it so it is sitting in a drawer. It was a total waste of money.
Sorry to hear about your disappointment with the lip gloss. I feel the same way about the Stila lip glazes. Thanks for your input Cathy, and truthfully their Smooth Wear Blush is amazing!
To be honest, I’m a MAC Lipglass girl, so to me anything thinner than latex paint is light, lol. Thanks for sharing your opinion Cathy!
Thanks for your post. Their make-up line does look beautiful. Do you have any idea what the ingredients are in these products? I was looking for that on their site and couldn’t find any listing. That would be great for those of us who are looking for more naturally based products.
Hey, for what it is worth, don’t disregard your dream about doing you own cosmetic line at some point in the future. I did it with my skin care company and the dream is now becoming a reality. The money part does seem daunting, but if this is really your dream, some how you will find a way. Best of luck!
Their lipglaze colors are beautiful, but the packaging was too cheap to be worth the purchase. After every application I found stray hairs from the brush on my lips. After a dozen uses, the hairs just fell off in one clump.
