Based solely on the items most beloved by my 20 month old daughter. No matter what I do or where I stash these she always manages to find them. She takes great delight in gouging her fingers through her favorites and smearing them in all sorts of wonderful places…generally involving freshly cleaned laundry. And so I bring you “Mira’s picks for Spring 2009″:

1) Becca Loose Shimmer Powder in Angel. A great, shimmery, lightly colored loose powder that can be used just about anywhere. The lid to this gem is still missing in action. Given the number of times this has found itself in my daughter’s chubby little clutches I have to say there is far more than your 20 dollars worth in the jar.

2) Redpoint NOC-Out Cover-Up Compact($38). Despite the picture, I assure you there are 3 separate colors in this compact. I first thought that only the Red Guard(yellow) would work for my fair skin, but I was pleased that the Eye Disguise(beige) took only minimal blending before it went to work on my under eye circles. It performed much better than I had anticipated, though my Red Guard has developed a bit of a gritty feel. Is that the norm, or did my daughter somehow slip crumbs into my compact?

3) Benefit Blush in Coralista. This seems to be Mira’s absolute favorite product. I am about to pull my hair out from the number of times I have found her knuckle deep in the box, with a pile of coral pink powder on her lap. I can hardly blame her though, it’s a really flattering fun color. Can anyone else pin down the scent? I don’t know exactly what it is but it’s invigorating and fresh and I love it. $28 may seem like a lot for blush, but again, she’s dug plenty and still hasn’t found the bottom of the pan, so this should last you quite a while. I do have to disclose that there are possible irritants in this formula, so if you have very sensitive skin you might want to go patch test in the store first. I haven’t had any problems with it and I am constantly getting compliments on my glow since I started using it.

4) Too Faced Eye Shadow Insurance Policy High Impact Eye Shadow Collection. It’s a mouthful, but it’s worth it. This set includes 6 gorgeous shadows and a full size Shadow Insurance Primer for only $35. If you like Urban Decay’s Primer Potion but don’t like the packaging, then the squeeze tube of this fantastic primer is something you should try. Had Mira not gotten the package open practically the moment it arrived and scratched right through the center of each of the beautiful colors it might’ve been the highlight of my month. Clever little thing waited until I was distracted by something else shiny peeking out of the Sephora box and then made her move. Until April 6th, Too Faced has several of their vintage products on sale for simply irresistible prices, up to 75% off! Seriously, some of these prices are just Too good Too pass on(ya see what I did there?) so run over post haste and stock up.

5) Vis A Vis Velvet Touch Matte lipstick in Shameful Kiss. I have to give the girl credit, she has a taste for the finer things.  At least I can say I got her started with quality products. She already knows a little something about product care, as it was replacing the cap that really did this poor tube of lipstick in.

Here’s her application of Shameful Kiss, and my own interpretation with all the products listed above:

Thankfully nothing is damaged beyond repair. It can all be cleaned up and wiped down and will continue to serve me well. These are some great fun products that I really enjoy. And if you can’t trust a 20 month old, who can you trust?
