As the self proclaimed “rockstar mama” here at MBB, I thought I’d share my gift ideas for the  out of this world ladies in your life. I’m here to represent the music lovin’, hair colorin’, ice cream eatin’, Doc Marten wearin’ soccer moms. We walk that fine line between responsible and rockin, and we do it with flair!

First, the easy one:
Gift cards. Get me a gift card for Sephora or Beauty.com so I can browse to my little hearts content and pick out my very own goodies. Personally, I’d be doing my shopping online after my kids are asleep, but I bet if you offer to watch the children for your significant other while they head to the mall for makeup and lunch it would be a much better gift and score you some serious points!

Basa Body Products:
In case you didn’t know, coconut is good for your outside AND your insides. My sister in law regularly uses it on toast in place of butter, and it’s one of the main ingredients on a great body cream she sometimes makes me. Alas, until she gets her formula fine tuned, I have to buy my lotion elsewhere. Basa Body uses organic virgin coconut oil in their products, and I believe it really makes a difference. I’m not nuts about coconut’s scent, so I find the light citrus tang very pleasant. I really enjoy how quickly this absorbs, you’re rubbing it in and then *poof*, it’s gone and your skin is soft. I would love to try the chocolate cherry truffle soap, it sounds fantastic and nourishing. In the Kiss Me Pack you’ll receive the chocolate cherry truffle soap, a mint truffle soap, the Basa Body stick, and the Basa body coconut oil lotion. Right now the set is on sale for $29.99, PLUS if you use the code “momitforward” before May 12th you’ll receive an additional 10% off the pack!  This company doesn’t just make products, they make a difference. I encourage you to visit their site and see for yourself some of the wonderful things they do that we’ll be writing about next week. It’s a gift with a purpose!

LUSH bath products:
Seriously, if you haven’t become a LUSH yet, you don’t know what you’re missing. Their handmade products range from bath bombs to solid shampoos and it’s all fantastic.  I’ve been gifted LUSH before and there’s a whole lot of joy packed into those boxes. The product descriptions alone tell you about the dedication and passion they have for their products, and your goodies are marked with the date they were made and the person who made them. There is something special about opening a gift box with the knowledge that the items inside were handcrafted only weeks or days prior. Each item on their site has a color coded list of natural and synthetic ingredients and vegan items (an extensive offering) are clearly marked. The bath bombs do more than fizz and smell pretty, my skin was soothed by the delicious oils of the ones I’ve tried, and there are plenty to choose from! I am just dying to try the shower jelly, and the gifts sets range from simple to extravagant. I’ve gotta say that the Mum Gift Set appears to be pretty well put together, with 7 fantastic products for only $39.95!  I know everyone says “give her a day at the spa” but for me it would be way more stress since I have to find a sitter for all my kids and figure in travel time, so a really great escape that I can use at home whenever I need it is a way more thoughtful gift. I could go on forever about this company, but it’s best you click over and see for yourself why they have so many die hard fans.

Chocolate:
Normally I don’t really care for chocolate. I will bend this rule, however, when it comes to high quality confections.  Oh Chocolate, with locations in the Seattle area and a store  in Georgia (?), create amazing chocolates that will make you swoon. I hear magical things about their sugar plums as well, but have never made it in when they’re around since they are only a seasonal item. Maybe this year, I can always hope. I’ll take the decadent truffles. Or the nuts and chews. Aw heck, just get me the Grand Assortment and call it good!

anemone_roseFlowers:
Once again, I’m not normally a fan. I’ve always found humor in expressing undying love with something that will be wilted and disposed of in a couple of weeks tops. And potted plants are of no use to me since I have a knack for killing everything I touch. Finally I’ve discovered a flower I would be giddy with joy to receive. aNeMonE handmade paper flowers are simply amazing! I love paper of all colors textures and weights. I can browse through specialty papers for hours, running my fingers over the soft weave and inhaling the fibrous scent…*sigh*. These flowers are crafted from papers of all sorts and are breathtaking in their beauty. One half of the husband and wife team behind this company was manning the store when I wandered over and he was very kind and helpful. Unless you see one of these lovingly crafted beauties up close you can’t truly appreciate them, but trust me when I say that it will make someone feel very very special to receive these unique creations. Do you hear that dear? VERY special ;)   I wish they had their daffodils on the site because they are such happy little things, and I would love to know if they could fashion a stem or two of my beloved fireweed for me… They also craft corsages, boutonnieres, hairpieces, and bridal bouquets, as well as centerpieces and favors, so if you are looking for something unique for your special event this is definitely one to check out.

I thought about adding a new tattoo to the list as well, but I think I’ll save that for my anniversary *grin*
As always, don’t forget the old stand by, sleeping in, sloppy kid kisses, and her very own box of  Crunchberries cereal.  Oh, is that just me?
