DERMAdoctor, how do we adore thee? The fun purple packaging, the helpful friendly website, and, of course, the extensive line of products giving us easy access to treatments for a variety of skin related issues that most prestige companies skip entirely. Honestly, if you’ve only ever seen DERMAdoctor on the shelves at your specialty beauty store you will be amazed at what they offer in their full product line.  From Athlete’s Foot to Tinea Versicolor (it’s okay, I had to look it up too), they have great selection of helpful products and tips to go with them. I am personally a devoted fan of  KP Duty and KP Duty Scrub (buy the kit for $60), which has done wonders for my “chicken bump” arms. Since I have moderately oily skin and have had such great results with KP Duty, I was thrilled to try out Tease Zone oil control gel.

For $35 you receive 1.7 ounces of product in a slim pump bottle.  One pump will easily cover your T zone, so that bottle lasts for a while. True to product description, this is very light. It absorbs quickly and your skin feels smooth but not caked with product. While this does have dimethicone in it, it’s not as heavy or irritating as many dimethicone laden, mass market products. It leaves a bit of a drying sensation, but hasn’t bothered my skin or left it flaky at all, it seems to just be surface drying and doesn’t affect my overall skin balance. The initial response from my skin was very good, but after a few hours my shine was creeping back in, and by the end of the day I looked almost like I usually do. When combined with my favorite oil control powder it performed markedly better, and I didn’t have to worry about touchups as often through the day, but as a stand alone oil control product it didn’t perform quite as well as I’d hoped. The upside is that this is priced about the same as the average primer, and it performs well in that function, with a bit more oil control than the average primer offers.  If you have slightly oily skin this would likely be a good product for you, especially if your skin is sensitive, since there is no harsh residue or fragrance. If your skin is moderately to heavily oily and you use a primer anyway, this would be a good option to replace that and layer with another oil control product, but if you are looking for a single product to absorb oil this falls just a little short of hitting the mark. You can reapply through the day as needed, but creating a dimethicone barrier and trapping any makeup and dirt under it may not be something you want to do if you already have troublesome skin.  I make sure to thoroughly wash my skin every night, especially when using dimethicone products, and this particular product hasn’t added to my breakouts at all, so with responsible skincare I wouldn’t hesitate to reccommend this to blemish prone skin types. All in all a solid product that was lacking just a little bit of oomph for my hectic lifestyle.
