First off, my apologies all around for being MIA last week. My husband came home after a little bit of time in the desert and I took some time with my family for a vacation. And while it may have left you feeling unloved my dears, it was certainly worth it when I heard my 2 year old wake in the middle of the night and call for her daddy to comfort her.

So now onto the stuff you really care about, this weeks product review!
Chella Professional Skin Care is one of those companies that has somehow managed to fly under my radar for way too long. Focusing solely on their dedication to charities it’s a company I can support, but there are plenty of other reasons to try these products as well. Lots of research and plenty of proven botanical ingredients certainly don’t hurt.

With oily, blemish prone skin I have occasion to use clay masks on a regular basis. They’re great for drawing out impurities and helping to clear my skin during the most troublesome of breakouts. However, they also have a tendency to be very drying and can be too harsh for sensitive or delicate skin types, and sometimes even oily skin. Chella’s Balancing Clay Mask solves these problems by being loaded with soothing and moisturizing ingredients like Avocado Oil, Aloe Vera, and Allatonin. I admit that contrary to directions and common sense I have left this on overnight as a spot treatment and I haven’t had any problems at all with drying, flakiness, or irritation. Obviously you shouldn’t attempt that if you have sensitive skin, but I’ve been very pleased with the results. If you haven’t been able to use clay masks to treat blemishes in the past because of dry or delicate skin, this very well could be your solution. At $45 this is slightly more than I would typically spend on a clay mask, but the results are pretty fantastic.

The Enzyme Formula Exfoliating Crema Mask is another effective but gentle product. Lactic Acid and Sugar Cane Extract are gentle AHA’s to help exfoliate dead skin cells and reveal fresh new skin. As far as botanicals this is well rounded, with several antibacterial, antioxidant and anti irritant ingredients that make it super gentle for delicate skin types while also being able to treat acne prone skin. This is a very gentle formula and I didn’t experience any dryness or stinging at all, which is really amazing. I hardly even noticed I had it on. I usually prefer something with a little more punch, but for sensitive skin this really could be a dream come true. With a $60 price tag it’s definitely more than I would spend on a treatment, but if you don’t typically get to use an AHA product because of rosacea or delicate skin this could really be worth the money, and since you aren’t using it everyday it will last quite some time.

Overall I think the product line is priced reasonably, and even the more expensive treatments are less than you find from some of the big prestige lines. Combining the mid level price range with a well thought out ingredient list makes this a worthwhile investment if you’re looking for something new, and the limited product line really helps to simplify choosing a regimen for your particular skin type. And if you have an argumentative husband you can always mention that the founder was a starting tight end for the Pittsburgh Steelers, which should give you a little extra wiggle room, at least until the preseason NFL euphoria wears off ;)
