One of the distinct benefits of working at the airport is that it’s like free market research. I get to see what people carry in their cosmetics cases and what products everybody loves. When a woman has to pick and choose what she’s going to shove in that little one quart bag and what she’s going to toss in the trash, you can tell which items she loves the most because they’re the first ones to get saved. One of the things I started seeing more and more of was the Dermalogica AGE Smart Multivitamin Thermafoliant (say that 3 times fast!), and everyone I asked about it just loved it, so of course it moved to the top of my “must try” list.

I shall not bore you once again by waxing poetic on my love for exfoliants, but let me say that I was so excited to try this that even the $49 price tag didn’t dissuade me. The AGE Smart line from Dermalogica is all the things I’m looking for in skincare at this stage of my life,  using antioxidants, multivitamins, and soy to help slow the aging process and keep skin healthy. You know what they say about an ounce of prevention, yes?
The Thermafoliant tube has a sleek aluminum look to it and it makes me feel like a real grown up to see it resting on my counter. The gritty cream/gel looks a bit like Vaseline coming out of the tube (Dermalogica execs have a coronary at that statement right about….now) though the texture is anything but greasy. I think the cream has a perfect thickness and the manual exfoliators are evenly dispersed throughout. It has a very fine grit that isn’t too harsh for my normal skin, and while it does warm a bit when it comes in contact with water I’ve found that sensation to be pretty short lived. I like that the manual exfoliators don’t bunch up in just one spot, but can be smoothed evenly over my entire face, and they never seem to lose their punch, even after the recommended 1-2 minutes of scrubbing. The extended scrub time is also great because it helps the passive(chemical) exfoliators get in there and do their thing. Lactic Acid and Prickly Pear extract are the two majors ingredients here, and they help to boost the effectiveness of the already capable manual exfoliator. Another ingredient that I really like for my fair skin is licorice, which I’ve been using more of to help brighten my dull, winter ravaged face.

I’ve been using this 2-3 times a week for about 3 weeks now and I’m very happy with the results. My recently uneven, rough skin has smoothed a great deal and it’s a huge relief to be back on track to happy glowing skin. My face feels much softer and smoother from just the first use. I’ve also noticed a decline in the appearance of blackheads around my nose and on my forehead, which is always a good thing. I can’t believe I’m about to say this, but I really think it’s worth the money for this product.  Considering the superb results and the fact that it only takes a small amount to accomplish them (you could easily stretch your tube out over 2 or 3 months) I would definitely have to give Dermalogica’s Multivitamin Thermafoliant a hearty, and smooth, thumbs up.
