I know I need to wear a daily SPF on my face and neck to avoid the damaging effects of the sun. Further more, I know that you need to be hyper-vigilant about using sunscreen while using retinoids, or after using facial skincare products with BHA or AHA’s. Even so, sometimes I still hesitate using a facial sunscreen.
Here is a list of some of the “excuses” I use to justify not using a facial sunscreen:
Hi friends! Since it is Friday I wanted to take a break from the daily review post and share some of the most popular posts statistically at Mythbuster Beauty.  I also wanted to call attention to Mythbuster’s Link Love page!  Recently we have added some newly found favorite beauty sites (Aging Fabulous , The Makeup Divas and We Heart This) and hope you will take some time to discover them for yourself. Great beauty advice knows no boundaries.Â
And totally not relevant to beauty blogs, if you love Craig Ferguson, head on over to Nenette’s post at LifeCandy, I luuuuuuuuv Craig Ferguson — and so do you… and laugh yourself silly!
Have a wonderful weekend and big hugs all around. JenÂ

Here is a mention of DecoDiva’s experience with two cosmetic brands:Â Purely Cosmetics and Vis-a-Vis.
The sweet Jen from MythBuster Beauty sent me some mineral makeup to check out. She sent me the Pearlescent Coral blush that I’m wearing from Purely Cosmetics. I really like this color! I feel like it adds warmth and depth to my cheeks without being overpowering. I don’t think I own any coral blushes, either, so this is a really nice addition to my collection.
The lipstick I’m wearing is from Vis-a-vis Cosmetics and it’s a neutral pink color. I didn’t care for the exact shade, but it did feel very nice and moisturizing on my lips.

One of the biggest reasons that I think people hesitate to order online is that they can’t try it first to see if they’ll like it or not. With many mineral makeup ‘Indie companies,’ that’s not the case.
Meow Cosmetics sells all of their samples for $1.00 and they are quite generous with the product amount. This lets you try a vast array of colors and products without worrying that you’ll buy a product and you won’t like it. For the price of a $1.00 if you don’t like it, you won’t regret it. They also offer sales that range from 10% to 25% off, so if you wait for a sale you can even buy your samples for a less expensive price. Meow samples come in baggies.
Aromaleigh samples vary by collection, but usually range from $.85 to $2.20 depending on product. Aromaleigh is also very generous with their product samples. I was able to get almost a month’s worth of use out of one blush sample, which really impressed me. Aromaleigh has weekly sales, so you can wait for one of their weekly sales and get the samples or full size item 25% off. Aromaleigh samples come in baggies. (more…)

Because DecoDiva loves to experiment with various colors and has a gift for creating beautiful dramatic eyes with her makeup, I asked her to share some ways to “dress up” your eyes for the holidays. Choose your favorite shades and have some fun with your eye color this holiday season!
Nude Eyes
If you want a nude eye look, here are the shades I recommend.
Aromaleigh Nude Frost – Pale champagne pearl frost
MAC Bare Study – champagne with gold and white pearl
Urban Decay Sellout – pink champagne shimmer
Meow Witty Kitty – vanilla with a subtle metallic cinnamon-copper sheen and undertone
Aromaleigh Pink Negligee – pink with delicate taupe and violet undertones
Aromaleigh Angel Wing – a very pale white/pink with iridescent pink highlight
Aromaleigh Alchemy – an iridescent, very fine shimmer that has a copper glow
Aromaleigh Champagne Toast (above picture) – a nude pinkish fawn/champagne tone with bright aqua shimmer
L’Oreal Hip Pigment Restless ($7) – a french vanilla yellow with a pink reflect
Too Faced Totally Toasted Park Avenue Beige ($17)
Then I would use a gel liner, such as Aromaleigh’s Indelible gel eyeliner in Black Out, or MAC’s Fluidline in Blacktrack. Finish with your favorite volumizing mascara.
Smoky Eyes
Smoky eyes are always great for the holidays, and there are several ways to pull off this look. I would pair up Black and Gold, Black and Copper, Black and Silver, Green and Gold, or Green and Silver for a festive holiday eye.
Use a gel liner, such as Aromaleigh’s Indelible gel eyeliner in Black Out, or MAC’s Fluidline in Blacktrack. Finish with your favorite volumizing mascara.
For extra shimmer, apply gold or silver eye shadow to your eye lash tips. You can use Too Faced’s Starry Eyed Liner in Gold Digger, Silver Lining or Ooh and Ahh. (more…)
